VISITING ALIMENTARIA, INTERNATIONAL FOOD & DRINKS EXHIBITION

VISITING ALIMENTARIA, INTERNATIONAL FOOD & DRINKS EXHIBITION

As I told you a few days ago I went to visit the exhibition Alimentaria in Barcelona, one of the largest events about food, beverages and gastronomy with a wide, international and innovative program.

A vast area divided in halls with specialized sections. You could find multitude of stands of all kind: wines, coffee, olive oil, national and local products, international products, innovative stuff, gourmet, superfood…and a large etc. In this post I’ll be  writing about what I found more remarkable, curious and interesting. I also attended the Food Bloggers Conference where social media and gastronomy sector experts gave their vision about its evolution and provided their best advice to be succesful as a food blogger.

The lenght of this exhibition was enourmous, nonetheless I had a walk around all the pavilions so I could have a look and not miss anything while I followed a map to choose the sections that were more of my interest and see them closely. Among all the national stands the ones with products from Catalonia and Castilla y León were quite eye-cathing because of their size and produce range.

Once again this edition had The Alimentaria Experience with 4 culinary showcookings featuring the best chefs, as well as demonstrations and tastings.

Amongst the bigger brands striking stands as Coca-Cola or Aneto, where you could taste all their broths. I found their dispenser quite funny…

A number of stands with an original decor, mouth-watering showcases… funny advertising like Navidul’s

Naturally some of the best Flavours of Canada like Premium Shellfish products needed to be there. Canadian scallops and lobster from Nova Scotia offering an outstanding quality product that is deep-frozen in nitrogen with no additives and already peeled, very versatile for culinary uses .

Between all these excellent goods, first quality kitchen utensils like Arcos cutlery and their famous knives; or all the coffee related stuff from Coffee brew Equipment.

Some innovatory products that attracted my attention like the coffee from Cold brew coffee– Café Fred served draft as a beer, but also with a very original bottling. It is 100% natural, created and produced in Barcelona, a great idea for those good iced coffee lovers.

I had the occasion to know more about the organic and Fair Trade products from AlterNativa3, like their cane and coconut sugar, pure cocoa powder…that I regularly use for cooking, as well as their biodegradable coffee capsules, what a brilliant idea.
I discovered the products from The elements and could taste their delicious coconut water and milk. I also enjoyed tasting the new vegetable milks from YOSOY, like the rice-hazelnut and rice-coconut milk, both of them yummy, I hope to find them soon in my local supermaket, I love them because they don’t have any added sugar nor additives.

Vegan cheese, lyophilized fruit, crystallized flowers, wine salts, an olive oil bar, culinary demonstrations, international cuisine from Ecuador, Korea, Morocco, Ukraine… In short a super interesting exhibition where to discover and savour the very best gastronomy and culinary trends
